The Story, Chapter Nine
With God All Things are Possible
I have a confession to make, I love the Rocky movies. Call me a sucker for the underdog movies, but you have to love that scene at the end of Rocky II, âYo Adrian! I did it!â What were the chances that an unknown boxer from Philly could stand toe to toe with the Heavyweight Champion of the World â and win?
The story of Ruth is another great underdog story. What were the chances that a Moabite woman would one day have a book named after her in the Hebrews Scriptures? What were the chances that Ruth would one day meet and marry an Israelite man named Boaz? What were the chances that their child would be part of the bloodline to the greatest King of Israel, David? What were the chances that from her bloodline would come the Messiah, the Savior of the World?
From our perspective it seems impossible. But God had a plan, and He still does. The things we are challenged with in life might seem impossible, but Godâs word seeks to inspire us, âwith God all things are possible.â (Mark 10:27)
You CAN cross a sea on dry ground. You CAN take a city by marching around it. You CAN defeat an army without ever slinging a blade. You CAN be a harlot and by Godâs grace find your way into the blood line of the Messiah. You CAN, You CAN, You CAN!
Too often the message of the church seems to be you CANâT. We get so caught up in telling people what they CANâT do that we miss the blessing and joy of living a life of CAN for the glory of Jesus.
Have you lost your CAN? One of the core values of HCC is to bring life and inspiration to the human spirit through the knowledge of Godâs love in Jesus Christ. We want to love, equip and inspire one another to find our CAN and âgo for itâ in the Kingdom.
Has the enemy been pushing you around, throwing some hooks, backed you into a corner? Check your corner, Jesus is there, and by faith, YOU CAN win. In Jesus you have already won!
Keep believing, keep moving, keep punching, and donât be surprised when you find yourself standing over your enemy at the final bell.
YO!, YOU CAN do all things through Christ who gives you the strength.â (Philippians 4:13)
Now get out there and fight — and remember, Jesus loves you! See you in the ring,
In His love,
Pastor Kurt
Side note: My oldest daughter has a sign in her classroom that reads, âNothing is impossible. The word itself says Iâm Possible!â
