Flamingo Migration

The flamingoes have begun their migration through Haysville and the surrounding area! You can arrange for a special “visitation” of the flock for all your “friends.”

These are a special “protected species” of the rare flamingos which is known for its unique, shiny plumage and sturdy, steely legs. These flamingos may only be handled by skilled flamingo handlers who have been certified by the Haysville Christian Church Mission Trip team.

Amateurs BEWARE! Improper handling of the flamingos can result in serious personal injury and loss of one’s sense of humor.

You can “insure” your property against a flamingo flocking with purchase of Flamingo Insurance. In the event that a "migration" has already started before you purchase insurance, the birds will land on your property. Insurance protection is not retroactive!

To insure a smoothly run fundraiser, there must be certain rules observed:

1. All flamingoes are to be considered HCC property and should not be harmed as it is in the name of fun. And they are only poor, defenseless pink birds.

2. If a person is offended by this humorous fundraiser, they should contact HCC and the flamingos will be removed immediately. (Contact Haysville Christian Church 524-5000 or Constance Black 209-8034)

3. Flamingos will only migrate to yards that have the right conditions. i.e. yards that have been selected by persons whom have donated to this cause.

4. Once flamingos have migrated to a person’s yard, that person is suggested to pay a $10 removal fee.

5. Flamingos may migrate to a person’s home more than once a summer. Birds of their nature tend to "migrate" frequently. However, they will not migrate to the same yard twice on the same day.

6. To prevent a flamingo migration to your home, Flamingo Insurance will be offered. The insurance lasts only one week per policy; seven days from purchase of the policy.

7. There will be no Flamingo Migration outside the friends and families of HCC. Unless the person’s yard in which they migrate has been contacted prior to the migration to insure acceptance of a possibly unknown fundraiser to them. A contact card will be left at all homes in which Flamingos migrate with information on how to contact the “flamingo removal team.”

8. An up-to-date list of both those homes which have been migrated to and those who have purchased Flamingo Insurance will be maintained at HCC as best as possible to assist in those who wish to see the flock visit their friends.
