When we returned the students were given there immunity challenge. They were given 1 hour to collect toilet paper and bars of soap or money to purchase such items for the rescue mission. Tribe “Doulos” won the challenge with 460 items. The group collected a total of 648 items…Praise the Lord. Tribe “Diener” was dissolved at tribal council, sending Jacob to Tribe “Tjanara” and Morgan to Tribe “Servo”. Then they were given there award challenge. Each student that was willing to give up and important item was given a chance to draw an envelope. Inside the envelope was either a story or the Serve-ivor logo or both. Students with the logos got to go to the Donaldsons for a Bed and breakfast. The rest spent the night out doors under the stars (no tents) and remain at least 10 feet apart and no talking till sunrise. For breakfast we were blessed with an abundance of donuts from “Noah’s Donuts” (THANK YOU, Noah’s!). Then it was time to get to work. We headed to the Salvation Army Thrift store to help sorting, stocking, and organizing clothing and other items. The theme was clothing. We served there for several hours then the challenges began. To earn a reward that could help them during the immunity challenge tribes competed to get ALL their dirty laundry cleaned, folded and repacked. The tribes spent a couple of hours in the laundry-mat thinking of creative ways to speed up the laundry process. Tribe “Doulos” won the award challenge and received $20 to purchase clothing to donate to the Salvation Army. The immunity challenge was a clothing drive; the goal is to come up with the most clothing items in an hour. Tribe “Tarnautojas won by a land slide. They were able to connect with families whom already had bags, baskets, and boxes of clothing ready to be donated. (Thank you for all those who donated clothing!). Decision Council was different tonight. Tribe “Tarnautojas was given the power of change. The theme for the day was Kindness. The first order of business after dividing into tribes was an immunity challenge. The five tribes were each given $10 and one hour to make the greatest impact in the community expressing kindness. Each tribe rose to the challenge, but in the end, Tribe “Tjanara” emerged as the winner. They purchased Life Saver brand lollipops and delivered them door to door while sharing a “live saving” message. Later that night at Decision Council, Tribe “Tjanara” voted to dissolve Tribe “Criado” Ashley & Ema. The members of Tribe “Criado” turned in their colors and drew new colors. Ashley became a member of Tribe “Doulos” Alex & Jacob and Ema joined Tribe “Tarnautojas”. Following the immunity challenge the “Serve-ivor” participants traveled to the Haysville Healthcare Center to share Kindness with the residents. They spent an hour conversing with the residents and playing games like Dicey Bingo and Uno. After returning to the church they shared their thoughts of the Kindness service project during Worship as well as thanking God for His kindness through a time of prayer. “Serve-ivor” Participants (Tribes for Monday, July 6th)

July 5th – 11th, 2009 The rules of this experience are simple: average teenagers are taken out of their comfort zone. Divided into teams, they participate in service challenges every day, the winning tribe gets to trek to Decision Council to vote one of the other tribes to be dissolved (members rearranged to other tribes). Even though they must learn teamwork and serve together there will only be one “Serve-ivor”, in this experience every participant must learn for themselves, and be responsible for his/her actions and growth. *amount may vary depending on the funds raised.
